Writers, actors and musicians are set to bring books to life in events for people of all ages next month.

The 2014 Essex Book Festival is set to be better than ever with a visit from Doctor Who fanatics and the tale of the day that British soldiers set fire to the White House being retold.

Students at East 15 Acting School in Loughton will perform Chekhov’s Wild Honey and award winning authors will visit Epping library to talk about mental health and fiction.

Zinc Arts Centre in Ongar will host Peter Snow as he tells the story of British soldiers setting fire to the White House 200 years ago on March 24, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

The author retells this extraordinary confrontation, the consequences on both sides, and the decision by the two countries never to fight each other again.

A guide to all things Doctor Who which will put the first 11 Doctors under the microscope will also be held at Loughton Library on March 29, between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Mark Campbell will and fellow Whovian Pete May will discuss TV, cinema, stage and internet spin-offs as well as audio adventures and missing episodes.

The duo has facts and figures on every Doctor Who ever story televised.
