A appeal has been put out to find a sex offender who could be in London.

Police in Lancashire are appealing for help in tracing Dilshad Miah, 32, who is from Burnley and who is believed to have travelled to the capital.

Miah is wanted after failing to notify the authorities of a change of address.

He was convicted after sexually assaulting a woman in November 2013 and given a 19-day suspended sentence and placed on the sex offenders register until December 2020.

He is described as 5ft tall, proportionate build with brown eyes and short, dark hair.

DC Andrew Ashworth from Lancashire Police said: “Miah is a registered sex offender who has failed to notify the authorities of his whereabouts.

"I would strongly urge anyone who knows of his current/recent whereabouts to contact police. We believe he may well be spending time within the Bangladeshi community.

“Sex offenders are managed in the community by police and partners, a system which aims to prevent them from committing further offences."
