CCTV could be introduced to prevent a bridge becoming a regular suicide spot.

Elif Orman died on February 17 after falling from the footbridge over the A406 North Circular in Chingford, between the Crooked Billet roundabout and Cooks Ferry interchange, in an apparent suicide on February 17.

A man was talked down after climbing over the railings of the same bridge on Tuesday.

Police have confirmed CCTV is being considered after people called for action to prevent the bridge becoming a go-to-place for people contemplating suicide.

A spokeswoman said: "Waltham Forest Police are aware of a small number of incidents relating to this particular footbridge including the tragic death of a young woman two weeks ago.

"The local Neighbourhood Policing Team is already paying attention to this particular location in their patrols and to provide a longer term solution they are liaising with the Local Authority to explore the possibility of placing CCTV at the location.

"My request to the public is that if you see anyone loitering on the footbridge or making any effort to climb over the barriers then please contact police and we will respond as a matter of urgency."

Transport for London (TfL) is responsible for managing the bridge and said it is working with police to "understand" the recent incidents.
