Students took part in a cycling safety awareness day today.

Leyton Sixth Form College teamed up with the London Cycling Campaign to host a London by Cycle event to educate pupils about road safety.

The Metropolitan Police also  joined by getting students behind the wheel of a lorry to illustrate a driver’s field of vision.

The Essex Road college took advantage of the excitement surrounding last week’s excitement that Waltham Forest will be awarded £30m for cycling improvements to become one of London’s ‘mini-Holland’ boroughs.

Cycling instructors and bike mechanics were also at the school today, and students tried ‘Rollapaluza’ cycle racing, seen on TV’s The Cycle Show, which allows them to race each other over 500m.

London by Cycle events are funded by Transport for London and the Big Lottery.
