Ambulance crews treated nine people after a four-vehicle collision on the M11 yesterday.
Emergency services were called just after 2pm yesterday after reports of an accident involving a lorry and three passenger vehicles.
One of the cars was caught by a lorry causing it to spin and hit the central reservation on the northbound carriageway, half-a-mile past junction seven.
Three patients including two children were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries, others were treated on the scene.
Paramedic Officer Louise Samouelle said: "Emergency services worked well together to deal with what turned out to be a big operation.
"Due to the number of people requiring assessment we had to move them to a nearby service station for safety reasons."
