A man who damaged a war memorial erected in honour of Chingford bomb raid victims will be sentenced today.
Kanesu Manivanan, of Chingford Mount Road, admitted causing criminal damage to Chingford Mount's civilian war memorial in Albert Crescent at Thames Magistrates' Court on August 15.
The 34-year-old was arrested earlier this year for damaging the flower beds surrounding the memorial on April 16.
Manivanan also admmited using threatening and abusive language with intent to cause fear or violence towards Zed Ashgar at the memorial on the same date.
He was due to be sentenced on September 5 but the hearing was adjourned for an interpreter and pre-sentence report to be prepared.
The Second World War memorial to the 104 Chingford residents killed in the Blitz was unveiled to the public in November 2012.
