People dressed as pumpkins will be raising money for a local hospice this weekend.

Haven House Children’s Hospice has invited families to dress up as pumpkins and take part in a Halloween themed sponsored walk through the streets of Woodford Green and Buckhurst Hill.

Haven House in Woodford Green cares for children who have life-limiting conditions.

Last Sunday shoppers in Waltham Abbey donated £150 towards the event in bucket collections.

Volunteer Vernon Gertner said: “Clearly, they were either well attuned to this great cause or else they were bowled over by my unique pumpkin guise.”

People will meet on Sunday at 2pm outside Haven House in High Road, Woodford Green and the 'plod' will commence at 4pm.
