Staff at an out-of-school club were praised as it was upgraded by Ofsted.

The report on the club, based at Wells Primary School, in Barclay Oval, Woodford Green, was released yesterday.

It was told it required improvement in 2009.

The out-of-school club, operated by Forest YMCA, caters for 34 children aged four to eight.

The report said: “Staff are welcoming and friendly towards all children who attend the club. Children show much interest in the activities on offer and make choices independently.

“Staff interact sensitively with children to help them in their choices. They engage children effectively in conversation.

"For example, staff talk to children about their activities. This encourages children to develop their use of language and communication skills as they talk with adults.”
