A CCTV image has been released in the hunt for man who randomly stabbed a stranger in the street.

The incident happened in Higham Hill Road, Walthamstow, by a parade of shops at around 5.20pm on Tuesday. 

A 26-year-old man was leaving a car when he noticed a man (pictured) on his mobile, who then made a comment about him. 

The victim was then assaulted in the street by the attacker, who kicked and punched him before stabbing him in the back before running off towards Billet Road.

The attacker is described as a black man, aged between 35 and 45 years old and 6ft.

Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 6pm and treated the 26-year-old before he was taken to hospital.

His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
