Volunteers took part in a council-led park clear-up today as part of a London-wide scheme.

Redbridge council organised the clear-up event for Roding Valley Park this morning (July 2) at the park entrance in South Woodford.

The event was part of this summer’s London-wide Capital Clean Up campaign by Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

Volunteers helped to litter-pick and tidy up entrances and paths into the Roding Valley Park, paint fences and signs, as well as cutting back any overhanging branches.

In summer 2014, more than 3,500 volunteers took part in over 200 Capital Clean-up events, collected 2,500 sacks of litter, and helped spruce-up around 740,000 square metres of the capital. Equivalent to 104 football pitches.
