CCTV images of a mother and her four children have been released by counter-Terrorism police over fears they could be travelling to Syria.

Zahera Tariq, 33, was last seen at her home in Walthamstow on Tuesday (August 25) at 8am and is thought to have boarded a flight that day at London City Airport to Amsterdam.

A family member reported her and children, aged 12, 11, nine and four years-old, missing the next day, and they have not been seen or heard from since.

The Metropolitan Police said after further enquiries, they are now "concerned that Zahera may be considering travelling to Syria with her children" and are "extremely worried".

CCTV images of the family prior to the leaving the county have been released and police are liaising with international agencies to trace them.

Commander Richard Walton from the Met's counter-terrorism command (SO15), said: "We're concerned about Zahera and her four children and we're doing all we can to work with our partners and colleagues both here and abroad to try and locate them and make sure they are all safe and well.

"Whilst we do have some concerns that Zahera may be thinking of travelling to Syria, there is no current information to suggest that she's already travelled there.

"Her family are extremely worried about her and her three sons and daughter and we would urge anybody with information to contact us as soon as possible."

The mother is Asian, of medium build, around 5ft 3ins tall, with long black hair.

Her oldest son, Muhammad, 12, is of a medium build, around 5ft tall and has medium-length black hair.
