CHILDREN can turn hunter-gatherers in the woods and learn the survivals skills of our ancestors.
Bushcraft workshops are being organised by the City of London Corporation in Barn Hoppitt, Ranger’s Road, Chingford, to show children some important camping skills.
Whittling workshops on Wednesday (August 3) at 10am, 11.15am and 12.30pm will demonstrate how to safely use a knife and whittle some camp kit essentials.
Shelter workshops the following Wednesday (August 10) at 10am, 11.15am and 12.30pm will give kids a chance to build and learn about man-made and natural shelters.
Forest keeper in Epping Forest, Alison Tapply said as well as being a lot of fun it will “encourage children to think about the forest”.
She added: “It will enable children to think about how our hunter-gatherer ancestors used the natural world and give them a greater appreciation and understanding of the ancient woodland.”
All classes are for children aged between six and 12 and cost £2 per participant.
