A Walthamstow-based company has been given a stamp of approval by one of Britain’s most successful entrepreneurs.

Mysteries in Time, run by Samantha Metcalf, and her partner, Peter Walliker, was selected as one of six weekly winners of Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis’s “Small Business Sunday” competition.

The firm runs a subscription service, where children receive a box through the post filled with activities each month to teach them about a different period in history.

Mr Paphitis set up Small Business Sunday in 2010, which has since recognised more than 1,700 small businesses across the country.

Primary school teacher Ms Metcalf, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as an Small Business Sunday winner.

“It gives real validation to our business idea, and has given us further confidence and energy to push the business to the next level.”

“Since winning, we have seen a large increase in our Twitter following and have experienced a great support network amongst previous winners.
