West Ham United have signed Pachuca forward Enner Valencia on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee, subject to a successful work permit hearing.

Valencia, 25, excelled for Ecuador at the World Cup, scoring three times in as many games for the Tri Color.

Ecuador were knocked out of the World Cup in the group stages but not before Valencia scored a brace in the win over the Honduras and netted their consolation in the 2-1 reverse against Switzerland.

Born in San Lorenzo, the forward scored 18 times in 22 league starts for Mexican club Pachuca last term - enough to help the Tuzos finish as runners-up in the Clausura Championship.

The 5ft7in striker becomes Sam Allardyce's fifth summer signing after Mauro Zarate, Cheikh Kouyate, Aaron Cresswell and Diego Poyet.

In joining the Hammers, Valencia becomes the ninth Ecuadorian in Premier League history but the first to play for the Irons.
