A West Ham youngster branded the ‘next Gareth Bale’ has been given a trial at Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail.

Oscar Borg, 16, looks to have a bright future and has been nicknamed ‘Gareth’ by the West Ham coaching staff due to his similar style of play to the Welsh Galacticos star.

Borg will cost United around £220,000 in compensation, and as he’s not signed on as a scholar on West Ham’s books, he is free to move to Old Trafford.

West Ham have offered another exciting youth prospect, Reece Oxford, an improved deal amidst interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

The lucrative deal offered to Oxford, a 15-year-old centre-back who has already played for the Under-18 side, is understood to be the biggest the club has ever offered to a player under the age of 20.

Hammers co-owner David Sullivan has already proclaimed his intentions to hold onto Oxford and has condemned the Premier League’s biggest teams for poaching smaller clubs’ rising stars.

He said: “It almost makes you give up on having an academy if they can come in and nick your best 15-year-old. What's the point?”
