West Ham United will look to sign Besiktas’ Portuguese international, Hugo Almeida, after it was confirmed Andy Carroll would be sidelined for fourth months, according to The Times.
Almeida, 30, has recently returned from the World Cup where made just one substitute appearance as Portugal were knocked out in the group stages.
The experienced forward currently plays his club football with Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas, scoring 13 goals in 27 league starts last term.
Despite the additions of Mauro Zarate and Enner Valencia up front this summer, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is keen to add another striker following news of Carroll’s injury.
The England international has undergone surgery on his left ankle, and as a result, will be sidelined for the next four months.
Almeida began his professional career with Porto before spending five seasons in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.
The 6ft3in forward has scored 37 league goals in 65 starts for the Black Eagles.
