The Guardian Series understands Jobi McAnuff is likely to have played his last game for Leyton Orient with the O's desperate to force him out of the club.

The Jamaican international has not been used by head coach Ian Hendon in the first team this season and fans have become increasingly perplexed by the midfielder's absence.

The League Two leaders have a small squad and McAnuff's experience and ability was expected to provide an asset this season.

The 33-year-old, who helped guide Jamaica to the final of theGold Cup this summer, is one of the top wage earners at Brisbane Road with his contract £5,000 a week despite dropping down following last season's relegation.

McAnuff, who is understood to have turned down a payoff from the club, is believed to have been pulled from the official team photo last week at the last minute and a source has indicated the club are determined to push him out of the door.

The former Reading and Watford midfielder, whose contract expires next summer, went on trial at Blackburn at the start of the season in a bid to earn a move but this did not come off and the likelihood is he will remain at Orient until the January transfer window opens.

McAnuff played for the reserves in this month's 5-1 defeat at Stevenage but it seems increasingly likely his last appearance for the first team came in May's draw at Swindon.

Orient managed to get rid of most of last season's expensive earners such as Andrea Dossena and Darius Henderson this summer and it appears the board have decided they do not want McAnuff to be a part of the club's plans anymore.
