Old Loughtonians edged to a 3-2 win at Chelmsford to move top of the East Premier Division A on Saturday.
The hosts broke the deadlock after 20 minutes from a penalty corner but Old Loughtonians levelled the match through Aleix Roset.
In the second half Luke Mepham was fouled in the area and the penalty flick was converted by Australian marksman Shane Martin.
The newcomer was involved again with Loughts' third, when he deftly slid the ball across the front of the goal and Elliott Seleska netted.
Mepham and Martin received yellow cards and Chelmsford pulled one back but Loughts held on for the win.
The ladies won 2-0 at Dereham after goals from Chelsey Toms and Sorcha Crowley.
