Orient captain Mathieu Baudry believes the team need to be more clinical in both penalty areas after their winless run stretched to five league games.

The O's have been punished in recent games for failing to take their chances with a mixture of inspired goalkeeping and bad luck denying them victories.

But Baudry thinks the team need to keep their concentration at the back and become more clinical in front of goal.

Speaking after Tuesday's loss to Carlisle United, he said: “Offensively of course we’re having a lot of chances so we need to finish them but I think we need to keep it locked at the back as well so it’s a bit in both boxes. The rest of it we were the better team but in both boxes we need to be more clinical."

Orient's inability to score the first goal in recent matches has proved costly and Baudry thinks striking the first blow is key to turning their results around.

The Frenchman said: “We reacted well and have done most of the time like at Northampton and Cambridge. We were chasing the game but if we’d scored first it would have been different.

"Every time we scored first the game was basically done because of the quality we’ve got and teams have to come up with a response. It gets a bit easier if you score the first goal but it’s something we need to learn from."
