JESSIE FORD of Village Close, Highams Park, London, England, died peacefully surrounded by her family at Greenwich Hospital, USA after battling a short illness, November 22, 2014 at the age of 92. Born in Chilton, County Durham, England on December 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Cockburn (nee Musgrave). She was the widow of Denis Arthur Ford whom she met while both were serving in the British Army in the north of England during World War II and they shared 40 wonderful years together in London until his passing in 1987. She is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Ann Ford Griffis, and her son-in-law, Charles Burks Griffis, Jr. of Greenwich, CT and Southampton, Bermuda; her granddaughter, Megan Griffis Kelly and her husband Timothy Kelly of Stamford, CT; her grandson, David Ford Griffis of Greenwich, CT; her triplet great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Campbell and Calder Kelly of Stamford, CT; her brother-in-law Roy Corrigan Ford and his wife Dorothy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins (Susan, Janet, Louise, Bernadette, Simon, Peter, Derek and their families). She was pre-deceased by her brother Jack Cockburn, her sister Hilda Swain (nee Cockburn), and her sister-in-law Margaret Reilly (nee Tompkins). A lovely sweet-natured lady, she lived in Highams Park, London for 68 years with wonderful helping neighbors. She was employed many years as an accounting supervisor at the Waltham Forest Guardian Newspaper Group. She spent much of her later years enjoying long visits to America and Bermuda with her daughter and her adoring family, despite her failing sight. A Memorial Service celebrating her life was held on her 93rd birthday, Monday, December 1, 2014 in Greenwich, CT, USA. A Memorial Service will be held in Harlow, Essex, at Parndon Wood Crematorium at 2:30 pm, Thursday, December 18th.
