Police step up search for gunman
Police have stepped up the search for a gunman who could be hiding in Hertfordshire.
Francis O’Donoghue, 27, who allegedly attempted to murder two of his neighbours, is now Essex Police's most wanted man.
Police believe the glazier could have gone underground in a travellers’ site somewhere in Hertfordshire, where he has relatives and friends.
O’Donoghue has been on the run since last Tuesday.
He allegedly shot two men in the legs and chest in a travellers’ site in Navestock in Essex.
The victims, both in their 20s, underwent surgery and have now been discharged from hospital.
Essex Police’s Supt Trevor Roe said it was a necessity for the suspect, who has a gun, to be taken of the streets.
He added: “Francis O’Donoghue has now been elevated to the force’s number one priority arrest.
“With this in mind, we need the community’s eyes and ears and urge them to call us with sightings so that we can act on the information and get him in.
“The support we have so far received from the public has been fantastic and they are providing us with leads so we thank them, but urge them to continue with the calls.”
O’Donoghue is described as white, approximately 5ft 11ins tall and of medium build.
He has short-brown hair, protruding ears and speaks with an Irish accent.
Anyone with information in connection with this shooting is urged to contact detectives at Harlow’s Major Investigation Team on 101, email them on SCDappeals@essex.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Anyone who knows of the man’s whereabouts is urged to call 999.
