SOUL and R'n'B groovers The Mighty Dukes headline the Fountain bar in Station Road, Chingford, this Sunday (August 29).
As it's a Bank Holiday Monday the day afterwards there's no need to worry about the going-to-work-early-next-day-oh-how-terrible blues, which is just as well because this show starts at 7pm and will go on late into the night.
Playing a medley of modern and classic hits, the 'dukes will be performing with guest singer Susan Allotey - a seasoned performer who once sung for the President of Ghana.
Entry is free.
At The Standard Music Venue in Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow, normal service resumes after the summer break with two scorching tribute acts.
Dirty Santana play the club on Thursday (August 27) while Dirty DC headline on Saturday (August 28).
Tickets are £9 for both gigs and doors open around 8pm.
It's free blues jam night at the The Plough Inn on Wood Street in Walthamstow on Monday (August 30). It starts at around 9pm and backline is provided.
Ye Olde Rose and Crown in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, hosts an Open Mic night next Wednesday (September 1).
It's in the main bar, it's free and starts at around 8.30pm.
Waltham Abbey Folk Club, in Brooker Road, hosts a Singaround jam night on Monday (August 30).
It costs £1.50p to take part and doors open at 8.30pm.
The Luna Lounge in Church Road, Leytonstone, has a 'Luna Fringe' night on Thursday (August 26) featuring an eclectic mix of experimental jazz.
Doors open at 8pm and entry costs £5, or £4 for concessions.
And finally, former Walthamstow promoter Dave Hughes, known for putting on many a show at venues such as the Plough Inn and the Sheepwalk, is looking for help from the music-loving public of Waltham Forest.
Mr Hughes, who has been compiling a database of bands and music venues for the past 13 years, is on the look out for old flyers from gigs in the area over the past few decades. Whether it's a flyer or a ticket stub from the Beatles show at the old EMD cinema in the 1960s, or a flyer for a band night at the Standard last week, he wants to see it!
Please send details and/or a scan or photocopy of any flyers to him at dbhughes58@yahoo.co.uk to help his epic quest to catalogue every gig Waltham Forest has ever seen.
