Sound Advice: Benjamin Folke to play the North Star

SWEDISH singer-songwriter Benjamin Folke is set to live up to his name when he performs in Leytonstone this Thursday (February 10).

Mr Folke's Americana-infused music has been described as “timeless” and is heavily influenced by diverse classic masters such as Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

His show is at the North Star pub and is organised by promoters What's Cookin'.

Support comes from the band Deer Park.

Entry is free and it starts around 8pm.

Bossa Nova buddies Los Otros play Ye Olde Rose and Crown in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on Tuesday (February 15).

Their show is in the main bar from 8pm and is free.

The Redbridge Green Fair Music Club hosts Graham Larkbey and the Escape Committee this Friday (February 11).

Also playing at the show, at the Ilford Sports Club building at Cricklefield Stadium in Ilford High Road, are the Redbridge Music Players and Singers and songwriter Max Davies.

Entry is £4 or £2 for under 18s.

Doors open at 8pm and it runs until 11.30pm.

Tribute act Creamful headline the Standard in Walthamstow on Friday (February 11).

It costs £9 and doors open at around 8pm.

Then on Saturday (February 12) it's the turn of The Kinx. Entry is also £9 and doors are at eight.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club hosts some special guests on Monday (February 14) with a performance by Damien Barber and Mike Wilson.

Described as “two of the biggest voices in folk” this promises to be an entertaining evening for fans.

The club, at the Royal British Legion HQ in Brooker Road, opens its doors at 8.30pm.

Entry is £5.

Rock and roll band Charly Coombes and The New Breed headline the Square music venue in Harlow this Friday (February 11).

Doors are at 9pm and it costs £5, or £4 for members. Entry is for over 16s only.
