Sound Advice: Bob Dylan + Chaucer + madness = good show!

A UNIQUE one-man show of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Miller's Tale told mainly through the songs of Bob Dylan runs for three nights at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Pub in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, next week.

Acclaimed folk singer Pete Morton will hold the performances, which will include songs from a variety of other artists as well from next Wednesday (October 12) to Friday (October 14).

Organised by Walthamstow Folk Club, the show is described as a "mad medieval musical monologue of poetry, comedy, song and the occasional dance".

Doors open at 7.30pm each night. Entry is £10, or £8 for concessions.

Where's Spot headline Loughton Folk Club on Thursday (October 6).

Praised for their close harmony singing, it is the second gig at the club for the trio.

Entry is £3 and doors are at 8pm. There's a £1 discount for members.

The show is at the Loughton Club in Station Road.

Tony Coe and John Horler play the East Side Jazz Club in Leytonstone on Tuesday (October 11).

The club is based at the Lord Rookwood pub in Leytonstone - there is no membership or reservations required.

Doors open at 8.30pm and it should cost around £5.

There's a double bill of tribute acts playing the Standard Music Venue in Walthamstow this weekend.

First up on Friday (October 7) it's Dirty DC followed by the Weller Collective on Saturday (October 8).

Both shows cost £9 and doors open around 8pm. The club is in Blackhorse Lane.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club in Brooker Road hosts a Singaround jam night on Monday (October 10). It starts at 8.30pm and costs £1.50p.

Welsh reggae band Dirty Revolution play the Harlow Square on Friday (October 7).

They're supported by Chelmsford ska band New Town Kings.

Doors open at 8pm and tickets at £6 in advance. Over 16s only.
