The “outstanding” four piece The Woody Pines play the Sheepwalk in Leytonstone next Wednesday (March 17).
Hailed as one of the hottest new bands on the roots circuit, the gig marks the group's UK debut as they promote their new album Counting Alligators.
Support comes from all-girl London bluegrass band The Jolenes.
The night, organised by promoters What's Cookin', gets going around 8.30pm and is free, although donations are welcome.
Pete Grasby is the special guest at Waltham Abbey Folk Club at the Royal British Legion HQ in Brooker Road on Monday (March 15).
Doors open at 8.30pm and admission is £5.
The Ruth Applin Group headline E17 Jazz's night at the Plough Inn, Wood Street, Walthamstow, this Thursday (March 11).
Ms Applin's piano and vocal style has been compared to the likes of Nat King Cole and Nina Simone, and she will be accompanied on the night by skilled saxophonist Josh Kemp and groovy double bass player Tom Mark.
Tickets are £5.
Doors open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start.
Tina T and OOSoul play the Plough on Friday (March 12). Expect a variety of superb covers from the northern soul collective.
Doors open at 8.30pm for a 9pm start.
Traditional Irish singer Mai Hernon plays Walthamstow Folk Club's night at the Plough on Sunday (March 14). Admission is £6 or £5 for concessions. The gig starts at 7.30pm.
And it's free blues jam night at the Plough on Monday (March 15) starting from 9pm.
Jazz vocalist Tina May plays the East Side Jazz Club at the Lord Rookwood in Leytonstone next Tuesday (March 16) supported by the Jim Watson quartet.
The night begins at 8.30pm. The club usually charges around £5 for entry.
Tribute act The Iron Maiden Convention play the Standard in Blackhorse Road, Walthamstow, on Friday (March 12). Tickets are available for £10.
Meanwhile Stray play the venue on Saturday (March 13), also for £10.
In both cases expect doors to open around 8.30pm.
At the Square in Harlow, Thursday (March 11) sees round two of the venue's Rock Contest 2010.
Performing are Peg, Stereotypical and Wish You Were a Superhero.
Entry is £4 and doors are at 8pm.
And one final note to finish on is that The Green Ray's show at the Plough in Walthamstow on Saturday March 13 has been postponed and will be re-scheduled at a later date.
