Sound Advice: Lots of open mic-ing this week

Tina T's Soul and Funk Jam hits the Plough Inn, Walthamstow, this Thursday (April 1).

Expect a wide variety of jovial groovy tunes, which you can join in on too. Backline and PA are provided, but musicians will need to bring their own instruments.

It runs from 8pm until midnight.

Tea for the Wicked headline the Plough on Friday (April 2). Support comes from Deviant Amps. Entry is £5 and doors open at 8pm.

Then there's more opportunities for getting up on stage and playing some spontaneous tunes on Saturday (April 3) at the Plough when Jerry Spangles and Graham Tutton host an Open Mic night.

Backline is provided and doors are at eight.

And yet more jamming is available at the Plough's blues night on Monday (April 5) from 9pm.

The Alam Nathoo Quintet play E17 Jazz's night at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Pub in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on Thursday (April 1).

The pub also has an open mic night next Wednesday (April 7) hosted by Graham Larkbey. It's free and starts at 8.30pm in the main bar.

Down the Standard Music Venue in Blackhorse Lane, Walthamstow, a quartet of unsigned rock bands play Club Bus Wind's weekly night on Thursday (April 1).

Those on the bill include Campaign, The Van Cleff, Cardinal Jack and Nathan Clarke. Entry is £5 with a band flyer or £6 without, and doors open around 8.30pm.

Wideboy Generation play the Standard on Friday (April 2). Entry is £7 and doors are at around 8pm.

Tribute act Dirty DC perform at the venue on Saturday (April 3). Tickets cost £9.

Waltham Abbey Folk Club, at the Royal British Legion HQ in Brooker Road, has a singaround night on Monday (April 5). Entry is £1.50p and the night starts at 8.30pm.

In Leytonstone, there's no What's Cookin' at the Sheepwalk and no East Side Jazz Club at the Lord Rookwood this week, as they're both having an Easter holiday. Bless.
