Sound Advice: Puppini performance planned

STEPHANIE O'Brien from retro pop trio The Puppini Sisters headlines the Sheepwalk pub in Leytonstone with a solo set next week.

Playing on Wednesday (July 14), Ms O'Brien will be backed by guitar band The McDeath Trio.

While she may be better known for her group's forties-style covers of hits like Take That's 'Could it Be Magic' and Beyonce's 'Crazy in Love', this performance will feature rather more traditional rock n' roll and rhythm n' blues staples.

Support comes from The Ghost Train Porters, who play hillbilly blues alt-folk.

Doors open around 8.30pm and entry is free, although donations are welcome.

Danny Spooner is the special guest at Waltham Abbey Folk Club's meet-up next Monday (July 12).

Mr Spooner is known for his passion of British and Australian culture expressed through the medium of folk.

Doors open at 8.30pm for the show, at the Royal British Legion headquarters in Brooker Road, Waltham Abbey.

Entry is £5.

I Am Sparticus play Ye Olde Rose and Crown in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, on Sunday (July 11).

They perform in the main bar from 4pm.

While on Wednesday (July 14) rock and rollers The Shellac Collective 78's play the same venue from 8pm.

Stan Robinson headlines the East Side Jazz Club at the Lord Rookwood in Leytonstone on Tuesday (July 13).

Entry is usually £5 and doors open at 8.30pm.

The Jez Franks Trio play the Plough on Wood Street, Walthamstow, this Thursday (July 8).

This acoustic act are playing courtesy of E17 Jazz.

Entry is £5. Doors open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start.

It's Blues Jam night at the Plough on Monday (July 12) with music from sweethome Chicago direct to the heart of Walthamstow.

It gets going about 9pm and entry is free. Musicians of all abilities are welcome.

On Tuesday (July 13) the pub hosts a traditional music session. From 7.30pm onwards musicians are invited to join in on a selection of English classics, in an event hosted by Walthamstow Folk club. Entry is free.
