ONE man is believed to be responsible for three sex attacks on young women in two weeks.

In the latest incident, a 25-year-old woman was groped twice as she made her way to a fish and chip shop in Wood Street, Walthamstow.

The man approached her in Greville Road at 7.15pm before assaulting her. He then walked off towards Barrett Road.

On September 18 the same man is thought to have followed a 26-year-old woman along Greville Road before pushing her against a wall and sexually assaulting her. He blew kisses at his distressed victim as he walked away.

On September 12, the same man tried to engage a 13-year-old in conversation before assaulting her in Wood Street.

Police have launched a high profile campaign to catch the groper, inquiring door-to-door for information and placing notices in Wood Street and Greville Road.

They have warned parents in the area to accompany their young daughters if they go out after dark. Police say the man is preying on young women of small build.

The attacker is believed to live locally and the victims' clothing is being examined for DNA evidence.

Investigating officer PC Samantha Batty, of Waltham Forest Project Sapphire, said: "Our inquiries continue into all three allegations.

In the meantime I would urge women in the area to stay vigilant and be aware of their own personal safety. If you see anything suspicious or fear for your safety, dial 999."

The man is described as of Asian origin, slim, in his late teens to early twenties, and was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood up and grey jogging bottoms.

Another description put the man at 25-30, 5ft 6ins tall, with dark brown hair in a crew cut style with light stubble.
