A RACIST brandishing a hammer attacked two Asian men in broad daylight.
A witness saw two thugs chasing their victims, both in their early 20s, along the Avenue, Highams Park, at around 4pm on Tuesday, February 19.
Residents heard the attackers shouting racist abuse before catching up with one of the victims, hitting him with the hammer and landing kicks.
He eventually managed to struggle free and was seen running away in the direction of Highams Park Station.
Trainee Detective Constable (TDC) Anna Starling said: "I appeal to the victims of this attack to contact police so that we can investigate this matter further.
"Hate crime will not be tolerated and I would urge anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward, along with the victims, in order to apprehend and prosecute those responsible."
The attackers are described as two white men, one aged around 18 and the other believed to be about 50.
