AT the age of just 17, students have become among the youngest graduates of Middlesex University.
In June, 11 teenagers from Sir George Monoux College, Walthamstow, completed university certificates in community leadership and neighbourhood renewal.
They were then eligible to don caps and gowns and graduate along with other students from the school of health and social sciences, who were collecting their BAs, BSCs, MAs and PhDs.
John Douglas, director of lifelong learning at the college in Chingford Road said: "These students are blazing a trail for the future. Having worked hard in their community they thoroughly deserve this university award."
Mr Douglas said that he hoped the students would be the first of many graduates from the college.
From September, Sir George Monoux is introducing a new degree course in retail management and several university certificates can be taken alongside other degree level study.
