THORNWOOD: Beloved dog reunited with owner
A PRIZED dog has been reunited with its owner thanks to the kindness of a man who found the pet by chance.
Anna Gardener launched an appeal for the return of her severely disabled daughter Angela's Shih-Tzu, named Poppy, after it escaped from her garden in Weald Hall Lane, in Thornwood, on Saturday, May 10.
Despite scouring the area for hours, Mrs Gardener, could not find a trace of the pup, which was extremely upsetting for Angela who was left severely disabled after a car crash, and "dotes" on Poppy.
She was found later the same day by a local man, known only as Ryan, who discovered Poppy running around the nearby Weald Hall industrial estate and returned her having seen an appeal poster.
Mrs Gardener described him as "a hero".
She said: "He was a real gentleman, he took Poppy home and then dropped her off at the Mutts in Distress Centre in Harlow. He contacted us after seeing one of our posters."
She added:"He wasn't motivated by the reward. When he contacted us he didn't even realise there was one."
Mrs Gardener also thanked everyone who had contacted her after we highlighted the story on our website.
She added: "We feel fantastic. Angela is so happy, there aren't even words to describe it!"
Speaking of Poppy's antics, Mrs Gardener said: "Hopefully that will be the end of her adventures, we'll have her chipped as soon as we're able to, to stop this happening again.
"We never thought we'd see her again, but its true- at least for us- that miracles do happen."
