ENVIRONMENTAL issues were to the fore at the annual Green Fair - but the seriousness of the topic did not stop people of all ages having lots of fun.

There were stalls offering advice on how to make small changes to your lifestyle in order to help save the planet.

But there was also live music, loads of children’s activities including a climbing wall and bungee jumping, free bike checks, and a flower and produce show.

And if you looked carefully, you might spot the eerily green Wild Man of the Woods on his rounds of Lloyd and Aveling Parks, Walthamstow, where the event was held on Sunday.

..but what you didn't see were all the community groups who were deliberately priced out of taking stands. The Greens had their rent put up from £25 to £100, having been redefined as a 'commercial organisation', which shows you how the Labour group views itself, perhaps.
The result was a corporate event for Waltham Forest and other public sector organisations. The friends of the William Morris Gallery were refused a stand outright!
One person who attended the show at the council's invitation had only just been paid for the previous year's event.
