Leyton Orient striker David Mooney admits he is in the form of his life
David Mooney admits he is in the “form of his life” after helping fire Leyton Orient to the top of League One.
Irish striker Mooney’s prolific form has been a major part of their success, netting seven goals in as many league games.
Mooney said: “It’s probably the best [I’ve played] since I’ve come to England. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it this year and I think we’ve been fantastic as an attacking unit going forward.
“We’ve also defended really well although we gave away two not so great goals here. Personally it’s probably been the form of my life and I’m hoping it can continue for many months.”
The striker’s previous best return in England came for Colchester United in 2010/11 when he netted 14 goals. Mooney is already halfway towards this total and looks on course to set a new personal record this season.
Mooney said: “I didn’t dream of a start like this. We had a great pre-season but to win six out of six is something a bit special. If we can get seven, eight or nine then it’s going to be brilliant so we’ve just got to keep that momentum going.
“I just want to keep it going. If I can score in every game then I’ll have 47 goals at the end of the season so that’s my target!”
