Old Parkonians Under-11s beat Wanstead to lift Nasser Hussein Cup
1:00pm Friday 20th September 2013 in Football
Old Parkonians Under-11s eased to victory over Wanstead at Oakfield on Sunday to win the Nasser Hussain Cup.
Old Parks won the toss and elected to field first on a sunny but cold morning.
Wansted laboured to 26 without loss after 12 overs, mainly due to some very accurate bowling from their opponents and a wet outfield.
The slow run rate put pressure on Wanstead to pick up the scoring but they lost wickets at regular intervals and could only manage 111 for nine off their 30 overs.
There were some good figures but the main wicket taker was Eshun Kalley with four for 29, while Ryan Karuna, Jaudaan Zubair, Om Thakgria, Matthew Holland, Matthew McCutcheon and Hamd Usman all provided good support in the attack.
The target looked low and so it proved as the Parks’ youngsters chased down the runs with eight overs of the contest to spare. Kalley (41 retired not out) got Parks off to a great start before Faaris Moreland (25 not out) and Kiren Kullar (5 not out) saw them home.
This result brought an end to a very successful season for Parks’ Under-11s, who had already won the Midweek League and finished runners-up in the Indoor League.
