League leaders Woodford A overcome Wanstead A in Metropolitan Essex Indoor League

South Woodford A sit joint top of Division One in the Metropolitan Essex Indoor League after completing victory against Wanstead A.
Woodford batted first and posted a good total of 131 for three with Kevin Smith (34 not out) and Saeed Piperdi (26 not out) top scoring.
Wanstead’s reply was well constructed but they fell marginally short of chasing down the runs they required and were all out for 117. Nikunj Velani the main contributor with 32.
Waltham recorded a comfortable 64 run win against Frenford. Nabil Akhtar scored 67 not out as Waltham posted a strong total of 159 for five.
That proved more than enough as Frenford were all out for 95. Fiaz Naqvi contributed 47 to their final total. Wanstead B claimed a narrow six-run win against Loughton A. Inqy Choudhary struck 35 as Wanstead were bowled out for 98.
Loughton’s reply was led by Wajahat Bukhari but he was dismissed for 32 and they fell just short of their required total.
In Division Two, Woodford Wells it back-to-back victories as they defeated Centurion by one-wicket.
Centurion were skittled for 91 and Wells did just enough to seal the win with one wicket to spare.
A knock of 77 not out from Rohail Anwar wasn’t enough for Loughton B as they fell to defeat against West Essex A.
Anwar was in fine form with the bat and his total was key for Loughton who ended on 100 for five.
West Essex’s reply was swift and they knocked off the runs with ease.
Walthamstow A smashed South Woodford B by 90 runs while London City recorded a four wicket win against East London Eagles.
Thomos Hawks remain the only team with a 100 per cent record in Division Four after they defeated Loughton E by 67 runs.
Old Parkonians defeated Loughton D by two wickets while West Essex B drew against South Loughton B.
Woodford Green recorded a commanding 98-run victory against Roding Valley B.
In the Youth League, Hornchurch were beaten by four wickets against Old Parkonians in Division One. Bancrofts Lions were victorious by 20 runs against Loughton A, South Woodford A eased past Fives & Heronians while Wanstead were awarded the points after West Essex failed to show up.
