More than a hundred people attended Bancroft Lions Crickets Club's presentation evening to celebrate a successful first year of the club and its young players.

Held at the Peter May Centre in Walthamstow, the awards were presented by former England test cricket player John Lever, who played 21 tests for England.

The Team of the Year award went to the Kwik Cricketing Fundamental league winners while individual prizes were handed to the following: Batting - Ethan Bell; Bowling - Nick Norman; Fielding - Chris Warwick; Top terrier - Noah Vintiner; Most Improved Player - Jamal Richards.

The Player of the Year award, which was voted by the players themselves, was awarded to George Copeland. Amraj Dhillon, Rhymel Sandell, Jack Kenealy, Albert Webb and Ben Walcott meanwhile were each presented with 'Spirit of Cricket' awards for upholding the club’s values of respect, discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.

During the evening, the young cricketers managed to play and win two Metropolitan District indoor league matches, with the Under-11 C team scoring 112 for three against Hornchurch Bs' 61 for three.

The Under-13s beat Bower Park Girls by a comfortable 109 runs.
