Crostyx Men's Seconds suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat at Redbridge & Ilford on Saturday.

Wayne Garner was welcomed to the side for his Crostyx debut, and Anthony 'Ace' Graff returned from his studies for one game only. The side knew they had to retain the ball for sustained periods of the game, and managed that to an extent. Unfortunately a couple of soft short corner goals gave Redbridge the advantage.

The attacking threat came from Christian Hall, yet again proving his skills in midfield, and Chris Wood, who pulled off an excellent reverse stick shot that was well saved.

Excellent work by both full backs, Chris Matson and Laurence Budd, were proficient in attack and defence, and gave Crostyx some hope, but a flick given away by a clumsy captains tackle allowed Redbridge to go to half time 3-0 up.

The second half was a better performance, the youngsters all proving that they are comfortable playing at this level, however the Redbridge keeper pulled off a number of excellent saves to ensure that a clean sheet was kept. 5-0 was the final score line but enough positives to suggest survival is still possible.

The  Seconds are away at Wapping this weekend and will be striving to get out of the relegation zone of East Hockey League Division 3SE.
