Crostyx ladies extended their advantage at the top of East Division 2C to four points with a resounding 4-0 win over Haverhill on Saturday.

Ciara Newell didn’t take long to break the deadlock, finishing off a silky run down the left with a well-placed finish into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal.

Crostyx were on top and doubled their lead before half-time from a well-rehearsed short corner which saw Alys Hackett find the net.

Haverhill responded well at the start of the second period but Donna Blockley and Keeley Pratt defended well to keep their opponents at bay.

Eventually it was Crostyx who scored next as Laura Feldman added a third with a clever finish before Carrie Curtis won a goal-line scramble to add a fourth.

Crostyx face second-placed Sudbury away on Saturday in a crucial match in the fight for first.

Crostyx men’s survival hopes were dented on Saturday as they lost 3-0 to Bishop’s Stortford in the battle of the bottom two in East Premier B.

Stortford remain the only team beneath Crostyx in the table but both sides are now level on seven points.

Crostyx have another relegation battle on Saturday when they host Cambridge City Seconds, who are one place and five points ahead in the table.
