Russell Slade has played down the significance of returning to the top of League 1 and insists his only focus is on fighting for every single one of the 39 remaining points available.
The O’s are back where they have spent so much of this season after their win over Swindon Town and Brentford’s loss to Wolves. But the East Londoners are only ahead of Kenny Jackett’s side on goals scored and both of Orient’s closest promotion rivals have two games in hand.
The most significant aspect of the last fortnight is the way in which Orient have emerged from their blip and Slade insists he is just focused on his side’s return to form.
Speaking after Saturday’s 2-0 win over Swindon, the Orient manager said: “I don’t know how important it is psychologically to be back on top. That’s a difficult question to answer because it might only be a brief stay at the top.
“What we’ve got to concentrate on is each and every performance. Before today there was 42 points to play for.
"There’s now 39 and we’ve got to fight for every single one of them if we’re going to get where we want to be.”
