Daniel Charge scored a hat-trick in an eight-goal thriller as Redbridge won 5-3 at tenants Barkingside in the Ryman North on Monday night.

The hosts opened the scoring after 17 minutes through Steve Carvell but Redbridge cancelled this out when Kurt Smith bundled the ball home.

Barkingside immediately restored their lead when Chas Liddiard rounded the goalkeeper to score.

The advantage did not last long as Ben Bradbury rifled his shot into the net from close range.

The relentless action continued when a superb long ball found Charge and he headed the ball in for the visitors’ third goal.

Barkingside were reduced to ten men when former Redbridge defender Sean Crossley was shown a second yellow card for fouling Smith.

Redbridge striker Charge then added another two goals to complete his treble which ensured victory despite a late effort from Liddiard.

An injury-time goal denied Redbridge victory in their 1-1 draw at home to Cheshunt on Saturday.

Bradbury fired them in front but a late equaliser from Ross Dedman pegged them back.

Redbridge visit Burnham Ramblers in the league on Saturday. Waltham Forest’s problems increased after a 2-1 home defeat to Aveley at Wadham Lodge on Saturday.

Forest fell behind early on when Anton Stephenson headed the away side into the lead after just a few minutes.

The hosts responded and grabbed an equaliser when Tunji Oyewale raced through and fired between keeper Jack Giddens’ legs.

Aveley restored their lead before the break after a long-range strike from Nathan Koranteng.

A disappointing afternoon got even worse when captain Leon Fisher was sent off for dissent.

Waltham Forest will attempt to bounce back at Barkingside on Saturday.

Waltham Abbey were again frustrated by the weather as their home game against Romford on Tuesday was postponed.

It was the same story on Saturday as their home match with Ware was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Waltham Abbey travel to Chatham Town this weekend.
