Herts and Essex League Division One

Ilford Catholic suffered a ten-run loss to South Loughton on Saturday.

Bowling first, Catholic restricted the visitors to a total of 143 for nine.

Vince Mullholland impressed for Catholic, taking four for 29.

Ilford were bowled out for 133 with only ten balls remaining.

Mullholland top-scored with 44, while skipper Liam Ward added a further 30.

David Smith took three for 14 for Loughton.

Herts and Essex League Division Four

High Beach were undone by some dubious officiating in an eight-wicket defeat by Roding Valley.

Batting first, High Beach posted 259 for three, with Mickey Evans (107 not out) and Alex Brooks (52) impressing.

Roding Valley should have lost an early wicket when Unmmar got an audible edge on a Brooks’ delivery, but stood his ground as the umpire – a Roding player – did not give him out.

Unmmar went on to make 176 as Roding Valley secured the win with 260 for two.

Essex League Dukes League Cup Group A

Shenfield beat Chingford by five wickets on Saturday.

Visitors Shenfield won the toss and put Chingford into bat.

Chingford posted 134 for nine, with Liam Lannen top-scoring with 28.

Suhaib Sarwar was Shenfield’s top wicket-taker, helping himself to three for four from just five overs.

The visitors scored 135 for six in response to complete the win.

Daniel Lawrence took three for 14 for Chingford, but it wasn’t enough.

Essex League Dukes League Cup Group B

Fives and Heronians recorded a three-wicket victory over Ardleigh Green on Saturday.

Visitors Ardleigh won the toss and opted to bat first.

Ardleigh were bowled out for 141, with Choudhry Mahboob top-scoring with 35.

Rizwan Akram was impressive with the ball for Fives, taking five for 43.

Fives scored 142 for seven to claim the win, Terry Ballard top-scoring with 49.

Sajid Younis took four for 30 for the visitors.

Essex League Dukes League Cup Group D

Buckhurst Hill lost to Ilford by nine runs on Saturday.

Hosts Buckhurst won the toss and elected to bowl first, with Ilford posting 177 for nine.

Buckhurst scored just 168 for eight in response.

Essex League Dukes League Cup Group F

Wanstead and Snaresbrook beat Southend-on-Sea EMT by 130 runs on Saturday.

Batting first, Wanstead put up a score of 238 for seven from their 45 overs.

Southend-on-Sea were bowled out for 108 in just 27.2 overs to condemn them to defeat.

Essex League Dukes League Cup Group I

Colchester and East Essex thumped Woodford Wells by 146 runs on Saturday.

Wells won the toss and elected to bowl, with Colchester setting a target of 220 for five.

Omar Ahmed was Colchester’s top run-scorer with 108.

In response, Wells could only manage a pitiful 74 to lose comfortably.

Rory Ellison – unbeaten on 32 – was comfortably Wells’ top scorer.

Ben Stephens impressed with the ball, taking four for 30.

Friendlies

Oakfield Parkonians lost by 61 runs against Harlow on Saturday.

Visitors Harlow won the toss and elected to bat, putting on 225 for nine.

Captain Rehman Ahmed top-scored with 96, bowled out four short of his century.

Baldeep Mann was Parks’ top wicket-taker, claiming four for 46 from nine overs.

Parks were bowled out for 164, with Haris Khan their 39-run top-scorer.

Lloyd Sykes was Harlow’s most effective bowler, taking three for 12.

South Woodford continued their preparations for the season with a 16-run win over Upminster on Saturday.

Hosts South Woodford won the toss and elected to bat, with tail-ender Harry Shirt scoring 111 to rescue the side.

Posting 201 for nine, Andrew Berry was the most effective Upminster bowler, recording figures of two for 14.

Upminster were bowled out for 185, with Matt Tigg scoring 68.

Garry Neicho took four for 25 for the hosts.
