West Essex golfer wins Essex Ladies Championship
West Essex’s Megan Jenkins has won the Essex Ladies Championship at Chelmsford Golf Club.
Jenkins, 16, won the qualifier against 24 other women, playing 36 holes and finishing with a gross score of 149 on the par 72 course.
After a further two rounds of match play, Jenkins won her semi-final game against Dulcie Sverdloff one up.
Jenkins met Sophie Madden – also of West Essex Golf Club – in the final after Madden beat Ashley Croft to progress.
The final was closely contested against Madden but Jenkins won three and one.
