West Ham United are keen on signing Manchester City's out-of-favour defender Micah Richards, according to the Daily Mirror.

Richards, 25, found himself well down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium under Manuel Pellegrini last term, making eight appearances in all competitions.

The former England international is believed to be eager to leave City in order to secure first-team football and re-ignite a career which promised much.

However, as one of a handful of homegrown players at City, Richards could be required by Pellegrini next term in order to fill the quota, even if the Chilean has made it clear he does not fancy the Birmingham-born defender.
