Five wickets from John Rogers helped Ilford Catholic skittle Foresters out for 96 on Saturday.

Ilford began slowly and were 64 for three early on before Vince Mullholland (34) and Sule Saleem (31) took the score beyond 100.

Epping’s Hurwood bowled well to pick up three wickets as Ilford finished on 158 for eight.

Rogers tore through the Epping top order to end with figures of five for 27.

Foresters were reduced to 48 for seven, which left them with a huge uphill struggle.

Steve Poole (27 not out) ran out of batting partners to support him as Ravi Ramanuja picked up three wickets to give Catholic a 62-run win.

Division Four

Ilford Catholic Seconds went top of the table after a convincing win over Nazeing Common Seconds.

Catholic batted first and Annanth Kumar (76) led the way with shots all around the ground. He was well supported by Yash Agarwal, who chipped in with a useful 34.

The hosts finished on 199 for eight after their allotted 45 overs.

In reply, Nazeing started well but Catholic pulled them back with Agarwal starring again to pick up four wickets alongside left-arm pacer Mayuran Thiru (three for 25).

Nazeing finished all out for 136 to give Catholic a comfortable victory.

South Woodford top the table despite a 69-run defeat at home to Wanstead and Snaresbrook on Sunday.

Batting first, the vistors were bowled out for 132.

However a virtuoso display, which saw Usman Sahar take seven for just 19, reduced the hosts to 63 all out.

Friendly

On what was a gloriously sunny Sunday, Ilford Catholic produced a brilliant spell of bowling backed up by committed fielding to dismiss Alexandra Park for just 37 runs.

Left-arm spinner Mukhtiar Singh was the star bowler, taking three wickets with support from Ashok Selveratnam and Ben Dharmanandan, who each took a pair of wickets.

Catholic lost two quick wickets in reply but Jaswant Chauhan and Pritesh Malyvia knocked off the runs for a comprehensive win.
