Division One

A good all-round performance saw Ilford Catholic defeat league-leaders Stansted by nine wickets on Saturday.

Catholic bowled first with Abdul Wahab (three for 42) dismissing Charlie Kirby (9). At the other end, Ravi Ramunaja (two for 34) picked up the wickets of Monk and Cope.

Anujan Thiru (two for 23) bowled well but Abbotson (23 not out) boosted the score to 171.

In reply, Ed Tooth and Steve Ward put on 156 for the first wicket before Ward was caught at point for a superb 87.

Tooth (72 not out) and Liam Mulholland (two not out) then knocked off the remaining runs to win the game.

Division Four

Ilford Catholic Seconds lost to North Weald Seconds by 57 runs but remain joint top of the league.

Bowling first, Arul Gopalasamy (four for 24) and Mayuran Thiru (three for 33) helped restrict the North Weald score to 207 for nine at the halfway stage.

Bob Marsh (56) continued his good start to the season, backed up by Wesley Benjamin (35).

Struggling at 116 for five, Ilford ultimately fell short, closing on 150 for five.

Division Six

Ilford Catholic Thirds also suffered a disappointing result as they went down to a four-wicket defeat at Thorley Seconds.

Put into bat first, Sunil Pulapaka (67 not out) and Rajiv Machanda (32) proved the pivotal pairing as the visitors finished on 206 for six.

An excellent partnership between openers M Dellow (54) and T Dellow (92) meant Thorley were in the ascendency early on.

However, Catholic could not chase down the required wickets and eventually C Dellow hit the winning six for the hosts.
