West Ham have released an initial design for their new club crest following consultation with supporters.

The proposed new crest retains the crossed hammers but the Boleyn Castle has been removed and the word 'London' added at the bottom of the design.

With just over two years until the Hammers move into their new ground at the Olympic Park, the club have invited supporters to vote on the potential crest, which would come into effect for the 2016/17 season.

A consultation with Hammers fans revealed 77 per cent of those asked would favour an updated crest; 98 per cent said the crossed hammers were the most important aspect of the badge and those consulted were 'in favour' of the inclusion of the word 'London', with the name of the city preferrable to a nod to the Olympic Stadium.

Accompanying the vote is a launch video, narrated by Irons legend Tony Cottee, which is viewable by clicking here. The re-designed crest is display at the end of the view.

Supporters with a ticket purchase history aged 16 and over can register their vote on the potential crest by clicking here.

Voting will close on Friday, July 11 at 6pm.
