Interwood FC, the club which helped launch the careers of professional footballers Colin Kazim-Richards, Bradley Johnson and Jay Simpson, has been awarded Charter Standard status.
The seal Charter is designed by the Football Association to recognise and reward high quality level of provision in club and league football.
Founded almost 40 years ago, Walthamstow-based Interwood were started up by Terry Gibson Senior, with former professionals Trevor, Danny and Gary Bailey all playing for the club in their youth.
When Terry Gibson Junior’s career took off at Tottenham Hotspur, his father could no longer give the club his full commitment so they folded.
Trevor Bailey regarded Gibson Senior as a father figure and, in the 1980s, he gave Trevor his approval to use the Interwood name and form his own club. With the help of Gary, Trevor has helped oversee Interwood’s development.
In the following years, Interwood has become one of the leading clubs in London, winning the London Cup on 16 occasions across all age-groups and reaching another eight finals.
Interwood currently have teams from Under-7s to veterans,. Those interesteD should contact Trevor on 07956385568.
