Leyton Orient start their season full of optimism as they look to go one better than last season and win promotion.

The O's open their campaign with a home game against Chesterfield tomorrow with expectations rising after a busy summer of transfer activity.

Orient have brought in seven new signings such as Jobi McAnuff and Darius Henderson after the club's takeover by Francesco Becchetti.

Russell Slade's side finished third in League 1 last season and Orient are fancied by many to win promotion this time around.

The O's won their first eight matches the league last year and although a repeat is unlikely, Slade knows the importance of getting off to a fast start.

The Orient boss said: "It’s always important really [to get off to a good start]. If we can get off to something like the start we had last season, I’ll be delighted.

"I look at the first five games in August and the first three away are very tough but we’ve set our own target – which I’m not telling you – but hopefully we’ll achieve that."

It is unlikely Henderson, McAnuff and another new signing Jay Simpson will start as the trio are all behind the rest of the squad in terms of match fitness.

Orient are unbeaten in the last seven meetings with newly-promoted Chesterfield although the last two games have finished in draws.
