Former West Ham United midfielder Jack Collison, who was released this summer, is training with Ipswich Town, manager Mick McCarthy has revealed.

The 25-year-old teamed up with the Suffolk side last week and has been training with them since. The Wales international has been looking for a club since his release from Upton Park at the end of last season.

Collison spent much of last term on loan at Championship side Wigan Athletic, and earlier this summer had been training with Premier League new-boys Queens Park Rangers.

The Watford born midfielder had been with the Hammers since the age of 17 and went on to make 121 appearances for them.

It is unclear whether Ipswich Town will offer Collison a contract or not, but it appears ex Hammer Frank Nouble could be leaving Portman Road shortly, with McCarthy confirming he is now available for transfer or loan.
