Third XI Division One

Chingford Thirds’ campaign ended with a seven-wicket defeat to Hutton Thirds.

The opposition opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Chingford got off to a reasonable start with opener Paul Warren hitting 27 while Daniel Carver struck 65. But the rest of their side failed to hit form and the lower order crumbled which resulted in a score of just 130 from 36 overs.

Hutton had few problems chasing down the lowly total for the loss of three wickets in 22.4 overs. Faizan Awan, Abhinav Sanghi and Scott Prestedge each took a wicket but Chingford still finished well beaten by their opponents.

Fives and Heronians Thirds claimed a 30-run win over Wanstead & Snaresbrook Fourths.

After winning the toss, Fives managed to score 155 all out from 41 overs.

In reply, Wanstead fell short as they were dismissed for 125 in 42 overs.

Third XI Division Two

Loughton Thirds clinched the title after a 141-run win against Westcliff-On-Sea as they finished the season in style.

The decision to bat first paid off handsomely for Loughton as they declared on 213 for seven off 32 overs.

Westcliff-On-Sea failed to put up much of a fight and were well beaten as they crumbled to 72 all out in 22 overs.

Loughton sealed promotion the previous week after beating Billericay Thirds and wrapped up the title with their 11th league victory.

West Essex Thirds finished with a 27-run defeat to Colchester and East Essex Thirds.

After winning the toss, West Essex bowled first but could only limit their opponents to 240 for eight.

Paul Griffiths was the most effective bowler as he picked up two for 61 from 16 overs. Rehan Shamim took two for 78 while Ollie Carter and Anil Clarke each picked up a wicket.

Their innings got off to a solid start through Shehzaad Chikte as he struck 62. Carter added 20 while Griffiths chipped in with 40 runs but the side fell short of the target as they were dismissed for 213 in 46.3 overs.

Third XI Division Three

Loughton Fourths’ promotion hopes were dashed after they finished with a 33-run defeat to Belhus.

The side were forced to field first after losing the toss and found it tough going as Belhus scored 236 for seven.

Mohammed Ali took two for 25 from just four overs while there was a wicket apiece for Lewis Scott, Liam Watson and Adam Jackson.

In reply, Loughton were all out for 203 in 37.2 overs. Adam Redpath opened with 16 while Mansoor Ahmad hit 59. Mark Redpath scored 34 and Ali contributed 21 but it was not enough for Loughton as they finished with back-to-back defeats.

South Woodford Fourths were edged out by one wicket in their match against Stanford Le Hope Thirds.

The team were put into bat and managed a total of 199 all out. Opener Imran Abrahim top-scored with 61 while there were useful contributions from Nabil Shah (29) and Mehul Parmar (33).

But Stanford Le Hope reached the target with one wicket to spare from their 54.5 overs. Mahmood Iqbal returned figures of three for 45 and there were two wickets apiece from Bikram Singh and Peter Smith.

Fourth XI Premier Division

Champions Woodford Green Thirds were beaten by 15 runs in their match against Chelmsford Fifths.

Their opponents opted to bat first and managed to score a total of 131 all out from 38.1 overs. Matt Trim fared best with the ball as he took three for 19. Chirag Trivedi claimed three for 29 while Mitul Bhatt picked up three for 22.

In response, Woodford Green failed to get going with the bat and fell short as they were skittled for 115 in 39 overs. Bhatt top-scored on 31 and Trivedi hit an unbeaten 23 but the rest of the side faltered for an unexpected defeat.

Chingford Fourths finished third after a six-wicket victory over Leigh On Sea.

Faced with bowling first, Chingford were able to dismiss their opponents for 186 in 48.4 overs. Naveed Khan returned figures of three for 32 from nine overs. Nishant Varshney claimed three for ten and Adil Daniyal picked up three for 41.

Myles Joyce opened up with 42 for Chingford but the form of Ameetab Ashok was the key as he scored an unbeaten 105. This helped the side seal victory with six wickets in hand from 34.2 overs.

Fourth XI Division One

Relegated Fives and Heronians Fourths suffered a nine-wicket defeat to Oakfield Parkonians Thirds.

After winning the toss, Fives decided to bat first but could only reach 181 for nine from their innings. Andre Byfield was their best performer with 47 while there were contributions from Roger Braithwaite (44) and Jag Singh Marwa (42 not out). Parkonians’ Gurmit Bhatia picked up three for 25 and Manick Shankar returned figures of two for 49.

Oakfield Parkonians had no trouble chasing down the target for the loss of just one wicket, which was taken by Portia Blogg, in 34.5 overs. Tahir Razzaq opened up with an impressive 79 not out while Santron Divaharan scored 51 and Waqar Yusaf added 38 not out.

Fourth XI Division Two

Epping Thirds ended their campaign with a 24-run win over Stanford Le Hope Fourths.

After opting to bat first, Epping got off to a decent start with opener Mohammed Zubair notching 69. Saleem Raza struck 21 and Arwinder singh Mann added 26 as they finished on 186 all out from 35.3 overs.

In response, Stanford Le Hope could only score 162 all out. Jack Archer was in excellent form for Epping as he picked up five for 48. There were two-wicket hauls for Sam Wilson and John Sanger.

Fourth XI Division Three

Oakfield Parkonians Fourths ended the season with a draw against Hutton Fifths.

The team were put into the field first and a decent performance restricted Hutton to 136 for seven from 52 overs. Andrew Beaven came away with three for 23 and Aman Patel took two for 13.

Oakfield Parkonians went close to claiming victory but fell short as they finished on 131 for eight from 48 overs. Stefan Premadasan opened with 27 and Patel contributed 23 in the side’s draw.
